The Metro levy assessment rates in terms of the provisions of the Local
Government Rating Ordinance on the value of land only. The funds generated from your rates contribute to the provision of
essential local government services within Ekurhuleni Metropolitan
Municipality.
These rates pay
for all other services except water, electricity, sewerage and refuse
removal. From 1 July 2009, the Metro will levy property rates in terms
of the Municipal Property Rates Act on the full improved value of a
property.
