DEPARTMENT : Legal and Administrative Services
DIVISION : Committees, Secretariat Services and Public Participation (East)
POSITION : Ward Co-ordinator REF: CLAE0031
SALARY : R164, 628 – R168, 756 – R173, 004 PER ANNUM

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 Certificate / NQF 4
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Bilingualism & Multilingualism
  • Managerial Skills & Negotiation Skills

PREFERED REQUIREMENTS

  • Interpersonal & Communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of the relevant local government legislation (esp. Municipal Systems and Structures Acts)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate the establishment of the ward committee process
  • Ensure the establishment and updating of a database of all role players and stakeholders
  • Coordinate and communicate council decision to the communities
  • Ensure the implementation of the election process
  • Conduct the induction of the newly elected ward committee members
  • Attend relevant ward project site meetings, distribute correspondence to ward committees, ward councilors, sector and any other relevant structures
  • Assist with the reporting of land invasion to the relevant department
  • Take minutes of committee meetings and attend to all logistical arrangements thereof
  • Promote the transfer of skills and training and monitor the process in terms of IDP projects
  • Ensure smooth running of ward projects and submit progress report to the Regional Manager
  • Assist in popularizing the council payment mechanisms to the community
  • Ensure adherence to the Council’s Code of Conduct during committee meetings.
